Only with the new Netflix YA series, Shadow and Bone, did you make your first step into the Grishaverse, but there is much more to it. You’ve got a lot more. The imagination is based on the novel of the same name of Leigh Bardugo and the many other sequences and spins that make up the renowned stories of Grishaverse.
Shadow and Bone, which was published in 2012, have created an enthusiastic fanbase. Alina Starkov – our heroic Sun summoner – and her battle for the evil Darkling is the Shadow and Bone trilogy centre. Kaz Brekkers criminal gang, featuring fans such as Inej Ghafa, Jesper Fahey, Nina Zenik, Matthias Helvar, and Wylan Van Eck, are introduced by Six of Crow’s spin-off duology. Nikolai Lantsov, the delighted prince, introduces the King of Scars duology to the tale of the first Shadow and Bone sequence, Siege and Storm. There’s more, yeah, there.
However, if you first come into the Grishaverse, it is recommended to begin to read the novels in sequence so you don’t become overwhelmed. Because Netflix uses a few creative freedoms to meet and engage with people, several significant distinctions are found in books that enhance your knowledge of Ravka and its neighbouring countries. Below is a short guide to which novels you will read as much as you might expect—and in which sequence.
Ordering Grishaverse Books: How to read the Leigh Bardugo series?
There will be a series of Netflix based on the series Grishaverse; therefore, now is the time to read it.
What’s the Grishaverse?
The Grishaverse is the focus of Leigh Bardugo’s fantasy novels. Science and magic strike together on our planet. Grishaverse takes us to Ravka, Ketterdam, and other places with big heroes, having multiple histories in the same universe, starting with Alina Starkov, who must unlock the secrets of her past if she is to protect the nation’s future or the criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker whose crew is between the world and destruction.
The three major series in the Greyaverse Books in Order:
I.The Grishaver is a trilogy that currently consists of two duologies, plus an ensemble of novels.
A. The trilogy of bone and shadow
Shadow and Bone: Summoner. Saint. Alina Starkov’s orphaned and expensive is a soldier who understands that her first journey into the Fold of Shadows will not survive. But Alina doesn’t even know that she has possessed when her unit is assaulted. Now, while training with Grisha, her country’s magical military elite, Alina will go into the priceless world of royalty and intrigue.
Siege and Storm: The might of Alina Starkov grew, but not at a price. She is the Sun Summoner pursued on the True Sea and hunted down by her Shadow Fold lives. But she and Mal have long been unable to overcome their foes. The Darkling wants to seize the power of Alina and use it to conquer the Ravkan kingdom.
Ruin and Rising: The Darkling reigns on his shadow throne while Alina Starkov, who is weakened, heals from the fight under the questionable defence of the fanatics who revere her as a saint. Her hopes now rest with the power of an old beast which has long gone and the possibility of the outlawed prince remaining. Alone Alina stands between her nation and a growing tide of evil as her friends and adversaries wage war.
B. Duology of the Six Crows
Six of Crows: Ketterdam: a busy centre of international commerce where everything may be at a reasonable price – and no one understands this any better than Kaz Brekker, a criminal genius. An opportunity to make Kaz wealthy beyond his wildest dreams is given him a fatal robbery. However, he can’t pull it off by himself.
Kingdom of Crooked: Kaz Brekker and his gang recently pulled off an asshole so audacious they thought they wouldn’t live. But they’re straight back to battling for their lives instead of dividing up a big prize. Crossed twice and severely weakened, the crew have few supplies, friends and hope. With strong forces all over the globe coming down to Ketterdam to unearth the secrets of the deadly narcotic known as jurda parem, old adversaries and new foes will challenge the skill of Kaz and test the delicate faithfulness of the team.
C. Duology of Nikolai
Scar’s King: Nikolai Lantsov could always provide a gift. In the terrible civil war in his nation, nobody knows what he suffered. The young king must seek a means to replenish his coffers, establish new alliances and put an end to the once-mighty Grisha Army’s growing danger as foes gather at its weakened frontiers. But a terrible power grows stronger in him every day, threatening to demolish all he has created.
Wolves’ rule: Nikolai Lantsov will call his witchcraft and charm — even the beast inside — on Fjerda’s huge military to invade. This battle will win. Zoya Nazyalensky witnessed the death of her mentor and revived her greatest foe, and she refuses to bury another friend. Nina Zenik risks detection and death from deep underground as she conducts war against Fjerda from inside her capital city. They must together find a path amid the darkness to build a future. II. The fiction.
Thorn Language: All short tales are collected (except The Demon in the Wood). These are fairy stories written in the Grishaverse, as the heroes of the series read. When you wish, you can read them.
The demon in the wood: it’s a prequel tale to the shadow and the bones, although it may be preferable, after the first book, to read the storey more clearly. He was simply a little kid with an amazing talent before he ruled Ravka before he was the Darkling.

1.Shadow and Bone
Here is the summary of “Shadow and Bone”. Alina Starkov is a junior cartographer’s assistant to the King’s Army. Her best friend and fellow orphan, Malyen “Mal” Oretsev, joined the army as a promising young tracker. Alina has suppressed her powers since childhood, driven by a desire to fit Mal. Alina and Mal are on the run from the Darkling when he kills a stag. If Alina kills the stag, only she can construct an amplifier giving her power to fight him. She dives overboard to help them escape but is unable to kill the beast.
2.Siege and Storm
Here is the summary of ” Siege and Storm”. Alina and Mal travel across the sea to escape the Darkling, but it takes him only 16 pages to find them. Alina learns that there are not two but three amplifiers – the stag, the sea whip and a firebird. The book ends on a cliffhanger. STURMHOND’s character, Alina, meets Nikolai Lantsov in the book. He is the second prince of Ravka, and he wants her to unite the First and Second Armies.
She refuses to marry him, so he kisses her because he secretly loves her. Alina is slowly losing her shit; she decides to go out the city gates, where she nearly gets attacked by all the people throwing themselves at her because she’s a Saint. Tolya and Tamar come to save her from the crazed crowd.
3.Ruin and Rising
Leigh Bardugo’s Super Summary Plot is a modern alternative to SparkNotes and CliffsNotes. The final book in the Shadow and Bone Trilogy, Ruin and Rising, was the New York Times bestseller. It tells us the story of a young girl whose magic strength is fatal to overthrow the evil Lord in her kingdom. The Darkling attacks Alina’s battle camp. She unleashes her Darkling strength, but the killing is not enough.
The Firebird is her only hope, with Nikolai not located anywhere. Alina finds an awful truth among turmoil and decides to leave Mal to find the Firebird. Alina kills Mal, and his strength strength strength empowers her. The forces of Darkling then turn this power on. Her friends are in the meantime looking for a means of resurrecting Mal with this released power. The last one she uses is to slay the Darkling, who returns to life.
4.Six of Crows
Here is the summary of ” Six of Crows “. The leader of the Dregs gang kidnaps a trader with a business proposal. The trader informs Kaz about a new medicine called jurda parem, increasing its present strength when taken by Grisha. Van Eck wants Kaz out of prison so that the scientist does not reveal with other countries the formula for Jurda Parem. In the sequel to the Crooked Kingdom, there is more danger and treachery. Van Eck will meet the Dregs on an island in a desolate state when they return to Ketterdam, and he will not give them their prize. Kazakh’s reconstructed crew are visiting Pekka Rollein and are requesting a loan to repay Van Eck and re-claim Inej.
Kaz intends to abduct and exchange Van Eck’s pregnant young wife Alys for Inej, which is being kept in prison and almost tortured once she has found what they need. After Nina shoots one of them pointlessly in the eye, they all escape away, and Wylan fires another. Kaz says to Jesper’s dad three days to gather the money and urges him to wait in a luxury town hotel. In the end, Kaz discovers Inej’s parents threaten him with the actual Tides Council, and IneJ endangers Pekka.
6.King of Scars
Here is the short summary of “King of Scars”. The King of Scars is divided into four different perspectives, and many characters have other stories. The plot is organised by section and then by the narrator for the sake of simplicity. General Zoya, a Grish who could control air and lightning, saves a dangerous monster from a child. Nikolai is determined to rule by miracles throughout the world and his country suffering after the war with the Darkling entity. Three Saints, Elizaveta, Juris and Golgore, approached Nikolai, Zoya and Yuri.
They invite them to the castle, where for over 400 years, they have been trapped. The darkling remains within Nicholas must be dispelled to release Elizaveta. With her newfound power, she kills Eliza, burns the Darkling’s body, and saves Nikolai. Nina pleads for Hanne’s aid after she is almost captured by Jarl, who knows about the tests. She and Leoni, and Ardik work on a plan to liberate the captives of the Wellmother.
The ladies are liberated, but Nina tells Adrik that she is going to stay in Fjerda. Nikolai takes one of the soldiers and explains that he is the actual princess Ehri, and the soldier, Mayu, was ordered to assassinate the king and die to spark a war between Shu and Ravka.
7.Rule of Wolves
Zoya is the Grisha Squaller who saved a young boy from a monstrous creature. She wants to set Nikolai up with one of the daughters of Schenk, but he doesn’t think it’s an excellent time to get married. Nina, Leoni, and Adrik find a group of women masquerading as soldiers in the woods. Genya is tending to Isaak, a soldier who fought by Nikolai. Tamar has called him to pose as Nikolai because the king is missing.
Isaak is nervous about posing as Nikolai in a trade meeting with several nations. Genya and the others are led by a young man claiming to have rights to the Ravkan throne because he’s a long-lost Lantsov cousin. Zoya observes the Darkling’s face when the fight brings her closer to him. Nina forms an ash tree out of the bones of the girls who died in the factory.
8.The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic
Leigh Bardugo continues her well-known Grisha trialogue with The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic. The six stories are inspired by Grishaverse cultures and traditional fairytales, folklore and mythology. Each story has been supplemented with the photographs of Sarah Kipin on the boundary of each level, which are extended across the pages as the stories unfold after each floor.
9.The Lives of Saints
Nino Ricci’s 1990 book Lives of the Saints, The Boy who immigrated from Italy to Canada, is the celebrated first book in a Trilogy on the living of Vittorio Innocente. Three genres are combined in this trilogy:
- The Comment-of-Age history
- The loss of innocence tale
- The experience of leaving one nation for another
The Lives of Holy depicts oppressive and traditional village life in rural Italy in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Vittorio, the son of a saint, is close to Fabrizio, his instructor and his friend. Christina chooses to flee from the hamlet to take Vittorio and travel with Mario into Canada.
In the middle of the journey, Christina gives birth and dies to her half-sister, Rita, who later joins her father. After her burial, when both kids join Mario, the story ends. The book won the LA Times Book Prize and the Canadian Governor General’s Fictions Award.
